Araku Coffee

We envisioned araku coffee Bangalore as a tranquil oasis in a vibrant metropolis, a gentle backdrop for a diversity of curated cultural experiences. Oak timber, white lime plaster, combed plaster work, white stone and glimmering brass come together to create a serene and sophisticated material palette. The neutral tones allow patrons to fully experience the rotating, curated artwork on display from our art partners, Tarq gallery of Mumbai. The open and airy space is further layered with a carefully selected array of botanical elements, creating a lush environment evocative of the highlands of the Araku Valley. Pops of color materialize via the richly colored fabrics and furnishings, flowering plants, books, araku coffee accessories, uniforms and crockery.

The five thousand square foot space is spread over two levels and is connected by a centrally located stair set in a double height space. The focus of the ground floor is on the main barista bar, open on all sides and surrounded by ample space, it is designed as a place of engagement. The distinctive under-counter Modbar coffee machine, with its minimal presence on the counter, fosters unobstructed and casual exchanges between baristas and patrons. An artfully composed timber contour map of the Araku Valley gives patrons a hint of the diverse ancestral terroirs from where the coffee originates. Near the main barista bar and in a secluded corner is the library/bookshop area, set within the double height space, it contains a careful selection of books that reinforce the element of discovery, serendipity and wonder. The main barista bar and bookshop section is screened from the buzzy sit-down area by delicately suspended brass shelving displaying araku coffee’s vibrant tin packaging, accessories and signature colorful moka pot.

The first floor brings the focus back to coffeeology with its on site roastery and barista training areas. The first floor also comprises of private dining, event spaces, additional seating and an outdoor terrace for patrons who prefer to leisurely enjoy their coffee experience in the open air.

With a distinct focus placed on sustainability, craft and featuring distinguished artisans, we collaborated with the most important design houses in India to produce bespoke furniture and products for the café. Masters of their craft such as Ayush Kasliwal, Sandeep Sangaru, Josmo, Mianzi, Industhan and Gomaads brought their expertise and shared vision to help bring araku coffee to its delightful realization.
